My name is Alessandra and I am excited to have the opportunity to play and learn on this blog. I love to cook and am just as keen on using my camera whenever possible, especially when travelling. While I find cooking brilliant I have to admit am a bit impatient with baking and the requirement to follow instructions exactly. I particularly like savouries and tend to favour French cooking as that was the foundation I received while living in Europe in my early 20’s. That said, I love spice, and herbs which means that I have an affinity to Thai, Mexican, Indian and other spicy cuisines. I love to try something new (especially when company is coming), but I also delight in opening the fridge or pantry and cooking from just what’s there. On another note, although we do buy local organic meat in bulk and freeze it, I do prefer to shop on a daily basis and buy what’s in season.
I own a J35 sailboat named Nasty Habit and can frequently be found below side cooking while in rough seas or when experiencing cold and rainy weather. We are very fortunate in that many of our Gulf Islands have old orchards of pears, apples, and plums as well as a variety of berries so those frequently make their way into boat meals not to mention the bounty of the Salish Sea!
In real time, I am a leadership trainer and coach who travels a lot in Europe, so this is my creative outlet that allows me to share with my friends and perhaps you too. Thanks for taking the time to visit!
